The design of the Super Tenere powerhouse leaves the engine / sump / oil filter exposed to damage from road debris and stones and rocks if riding off road. The stock protection – aka Skid Plate – is a basic plastic piece which would not afford any decent level of protection. Hence the Skid Plate as engine Protection is a must have for this bike. For that matter, any bike that is liable to go off-roading.
Whenever the bike is parked up in the garage, I have the Battery Tender Trickle Charger hooked up to maintain the battery and not let it run down. To do this conveniently and quickly, a ‘Pigtail’ has to be connected to the battery.
The weather cleared up on Sunday. Mid to High 60s, light breeze. Perfect for a ride. A quick 2hr ride. 50:50 split between Asphalt and Gravel Trail Road. The SuperTenere handled pretty well. Nimble, agile and confident.
North Georgia has many rural roads and ‘old’ businesses, some active, some closed down; serving mainly the local community. While on my rides, such old and dated places catch my attention and I have to stop and take pictures with the bike. This place, now closed permanently, is along Highway 9 which runs to Dahlonega – foothills of the North Georgia mountains.
